The ijaw community has lamented about the flood ruining their metropolitan and has called the central rule to carry action.
This was completely reinstated by the public head of the Ijaw Peoples Initiative, Comrade Austin Ozobo, though discourse to newsmen in Warri on Tuesday.
Ozobo lamented the once a year flood register in the Ijaw district and that the Nigerian Government direction must show the compulsory steps in preventing the regular flood occurrence accordingly and to rescue lives and properties.
“We anticipated direction in every step to meet arrangements towards evacuating residents in the flood-prone riverine communities. But although the warning, no energy has been put in place. It is unfortunate".
“As residents of riverine communities, we are being inflicted with the rising flood even in our communities, but how are we to live when our means of survival reside in the village, they consist of manual labor like farm, fish, or round about labor-intensive jobs".
“It is infuriating that the Federal Governments in Niger Delta grasp no strategy to solve the progress ragging flood threat. No referral or moves for IDP camps, no logistics preparations for moving of artificial persons, no medical, filtered water, clothing for kids and home for aged and pregnant women are in place. It is regrettable and disappointing,” he said.
Erosion, Flood are natural disasters that have ruined the Niger Delta region for some couple of months now. This should be fixed by the government and has come into the light by the citizen of that area.
